Our TeachersAll of our teachers at Nurturing Knowledge School are highly qualified and dedicated professionals. Our teachers have years of experience within the field of Early Childhood Education and receive on-going training throughout the year. At Nurturing Knowledge Schools, our teachers work closely with children acting alternately as guide, resource, and support as appropriate. Our knowledgeable teachers even know when to step back to allow time and space for a child’s own understanding to take place. At Nurturing Knowledge Schools, we honor all children as teachers and all teachers as learners. This relationship allows us to provide support for children as we co-create curriculum. Relying on our knowledge of child development and by working in collaboration with our co-teachers, we carefully design our curriculum to meet the needs of each individual child, celebrating their strengths and designing activities that support the development of the whole child. Parent-Teacher PartnershipWe recognize each family as a unique member of our learning community. We appreciate and encourage active parental/family involvement in all of our programs. We consider parents to be our teaching partners. Parents can participate in this partnership by working with the teachers to set goals, evaluate progress and coordinate learning experiences at home and school. Meet Our Education DirectorMy name is Lisa Skylynd (Teacher Skylynd); I am the Education Director at Nurturing Knowledge School. I have been active in the early childhood field since 1990. I earned both B.S. and M.S. in early childhood education/child development at The Ohio State University. I have supported young children, their families, and teachers in the roles of director, training & curriculum specialist, preschool teacher, and university instructor. I believe children thrive in an engaging, active-learning environment. You can expect your child to participate in a variety of creative and fun activities and be involved in projects that evolve in complexity over time. I also believe that it is imperative to focus on children’s social and emotional understanding, so they build strong self-esteem and create a large repertoire of positive strategies to flourish as they move forward in life. As Education Director, I work closely with the teachers at each campus of Nurturing Knowledge School to strengthen curriculum. I spend time in each of our classrooms every week, working directly with the children and their teachers. I am here to support each of our families as well, leading parent education events and meeting directly with individual families. Through clear, consistent communication, I hope to develop a strong relationship with each child and his/her family!
